Movies, stories and folklore make us believe that men are consistently confident, well turned out and always date ready.

Story lines tend to include a flapping woman worried about her date but fail to notice how nervous the man is.

The only solution is to be date ready 24/7 so you don’t get the chance to flap or back out.

Faux Macho – not cool.

Don’t fall foul to the assumptions that men should always be confident. If you’re not, you’re not. Faking it won’t work.

In fact, you will probably find that letting a little bit of genuine nervousness into your date conversation will be charming and endearing. Fake confidence will be annoying and audacious.

Take care of yourself.

Just like the ladies, to be date ready 24/7 you need to look out for your well being.

Stay fit. Get enough sleep. Eat well.

Having a self-care routine allows you to feel good about yourself so when you decide you fancy a date, you’re ready!

The last thing you want is to be so tired that you fall asleep half way through the date.

Address your wardrobe.

Got some old trousers that you just LOVE to wear? They might be super comfortable but chances are they are not date ready.

Take a look in your wardrobe and think to yourself ‘if I was going to meet a woman today, what would I wear?’ Put all that at one end of your closet (assuming it’s hanging up and not on the floor…) and the remainder at the other end.

Wear the clothes you picked out for the next couple of days just going about your daily business and watch your confidence and self-worth sky rocket.

Be you.

Gender bias leads many people to think men will automatically be more self-assured than women. In truth, we know this is not always the case.

Don’t try too hard to be the guy you think she wants you to be – be yourself.

If you need to give yourself a pep talk – there is a bit about understanding your value here.
