Hi everyone! I’m Georgia – a single 24 year old living in London and exploring the dating world with NOW Dating Diaries.

I’ve used other apps but got bored of the incessant swiping /small talk / invites to people’s homes (err – no thank you!).

So, I found NOW, an app where you can meet people for dates when you’re available. None of the nonsense. Just dating.

I’m going to share my dating experiences with you all through Dating Diaries!

Here goes…

Dating Diaries – Sunday Coffee with Mr Pretty

My first date through NOW Dating was with a 28 year old I will call Mr Pretty.

He was really, really pretty.

Coffee dates are great because you can be pretty casual and they can last for as little or as long as you want. You know, an Espresso shot or an extra large americano refill until you’re wired kind of time period.

Right, back to Mr Pretty. Not my usual type – I tend to go for the rugged-rugby-grizzly-big-hunky kind of guy.

Mr Pretty was approachable and kind looking, even if he was a little too groomed for my liking.

I mean, not one eyelash out of place.

The initial meeting

We met at this awesome new coffee shop in Richmond – Coffeeology.

Even when you have been single for some time, first dates are nerve wracking.

We had agreed to meet at 11:15 but Mr Pretty was there before I got there – a good start.

He greeted me with a kiss on the cheek which immediately broke the ice and we went to order our coffees.

At this point he tells me he doesn’t actually like coffee…

This gave us something to laugh about but I took the piss out of him for inviting me on a coffee date when he doesn’t even like coffee.

He took it well; or perhaps he was intimidated by my forthcomingness. Oops.

The conversation

A little dry. That’s what makes me think he was intimidated by me. He was quite awkward and I felt like he was treading carefully as if he thought I might bite his head off at any moment. Perhaps the not-liking-coffee joke was too much?

We talked about the usual things – work; family; our likes and dislikes but there was no spark. No ooh-la-la. No hysterics.

The conversation was more friendly than anything else. It felt like an old school friend I hadn’t seen in years – like we were doing the obligatory ‘where are they now?’ catch up.

The verdict

Mr Pretty will certainly make someone very happy. Just not me.

Oh well – this ones going down to experience – and we’re onto the next one! At least I’ll be back to share more dating diaries with you! Maybe i’ll head out for dinner next…
